ABOUT US

BOLDFACE is a multi-media production company that works with young people to produce podcasts, art exhibitions and film. Our work is experimental and entertaining, designed to fuse professional outcomes with community projects. 

 

Innovative education is central to all that we do, creating fun learning environments where young people can explore their own ideas and develop the abilities to express them creatively. 

 

We work in schools across London on weekly basis, as well as producing ongoing collaborations with charities and organisations across the UK and internationally.

 

FOUNDERS

The founders and directors of BOLDFACE are Jess Lawson and Izzy Yon.

Jess Lawson is a radio maker who has made podcasts and documentaries for organisations including BBC Radio 4, Frieze, National Prison Radio, Vice, Somerset House and Serpentine Galleries. As a community facilitator, she has run workshops empowering adults to make radio, and has previously worked as a playworker and support worker with children aged 5-16 and adults with autistic spectrum condition.

 

Izzy Yon has worked in community arts since 2011. She trained at Goldsmiths College with a first class honours in Fine Art and History of Art. 2017-2018 Izzy was Artist in Residence at Hatcham Temple Grove Free School, and, over the years, she has worked with countless schools and institutions including the Saatchi Gallery and Whitechapel gallery. Izzy is also a practicing artist who has exhibited at the ICA, London; Le Bain for FIAC Art Fair, Pairs; Koppel Projects for Every Womxn Biennale, London; and other performances and screenings in London, Brussels, Dublin and Shanghai. 

 
 

ETHOS

At BOLDFACE, process and product are symbiotic. We have two fundamental commitments:

To deliver thought-provoking arts education that develops, challenges and inspires the young people that we work with.  

To create original work across multiple mediums in collaboration with industry professionals, artists and educators. 

BOLDFACE is a Community Interest Company which means that all of our profits are put back into our projects. The people who we work with are of utmost importance to us, and we seek to pay them as much as possible for their skills, experience, talent and personality.

 

We only work with exceptional people. We have a small team of industry professionals who are highly experienced working with young people. Everyone who works for us has an Enhanced DBS check.
